In addition to helping support PWInsider.com financially, Elite members get access to hotline reports from all of the members of the staff, two weekly audio shows, our massive weekly newsletter and a lightning fast ad-free version of PWInsider.com. Stupid elite shit. I read on another forum that the name is Jim Ross. It kind of fits since they said "name" and not "star". But I don't know that for sure, as I'm not an elite member. Would be a huge upgrade over Mike Tenay though, and would be a far better fit for JR. Lord knows WWE has crapped on him enough. I'd be up for seeing a reuniting of JR and Taz in the announce booth. |

Vince has been trying to get rid of JR for years, which just baffles the mind, as when it comes to actually SELLING the product, there is no announcer right now in wrestling period, who's even in the same ballpark as JR. The only guys who you could plausibly say were equal to or better than him in Gordon Solie (according to reputation) or Gorilla Monsoon are both dead... |

Hey man your clock won't flush!!!
|
Well Vince is a friggin idiot, the only reason he has been trying to get rid of JR is JR tells it like it is, and represents a view of wrestling that Vince has always hated. The traditional, wrestling show....not sports entertainment. And that's why Jim Ross is LOVED by everyone, and Vince is seen as a pompous jackass. |

That would be a huge blow for WWE though not only for the on screen role JR plays but also the behind the scenes roles he plays. Ross could be a huge asset for TNA if this turns out to be true |

If JR goes there I'll start watching TNA because I know he's going to offer some kind of help backstage in addition to re-teaming with Taz. |

A whole week or so later we finally get this:
I hope he goes to TNA. He's put with so much crap over the years from Vince it's not even funny. JR backstage at TNA = an asset that helps the show out. JR and Taz as lead commenators for TNA = a huge improvement. These two things probably equal me starting to watch TNA every so often. |

I too hope JR goes to TNA. It'd be a blow for Smackdown (JR is still the best after all), but I want it to happen. EDIT: 14,000th post made on the forum, hooray!

Stinger's post whoring proudly brought to you by the Heelzone Forums JR to TNA should equal an improvement, not sure how big it would be. I wouldn't hold my breath though. |

I am going to respectfully disagree with everyone here. Lousy as WWE can be at times, JR is still a pillar there, and it is his voice I expect to hear come Wrestlemania time. To me, him leaving WWE would be like John Madden leaving the NFL, and calling football matches for some Arena League. TNA if they want a new lead announcer should scoop the indy scene for someone competent who can sell the product and is also fairly knowledgeable. Hold try-outs, and just keep them going until you find the right guy. |

I'm with Jules on this one... TNA is a lost cause. Jim Ross isn't going to change anything there. Having him move to TNA would be a wasted golden voice of the wrestling industry. He's in a perfect spot on Smackdown, where he doesn't have to be a part of storylines...he can just call wrestling matches and sell their superior product week in and week out. |

I think those of us who want JR to jump would be because of the help he could be backstage. This is also assuming Jeff Jarrett has indeed lost his stroke (see what i did there? I used the word stroke). JR is the greatest announcer of the modern age (only Solie is in his level in my book), but he's been so changed to the "sports entertainment" announcer it would be refreshing to hear the old school JR again. |

Can't argue against Chad and Jules' points. I just kind of want to see it happen to maybe send a needed shockwave against WWE. Short term thinking on my part. You guys certainly nail the bigger and undeniable picture. |
