Hey man your clock won't flush!!!
I know we have an MMA thread, but we all like him and follow him, so I am starting his own.

UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar was forced to pull out of his November 14th title defense against Shane Carwin because of illness. After some initial speculation that Lesnar had been suffering from the H1N1 virus (commonly known as swine flu), there's an update to the story.

MMA site BloodyElbow.com is reporting that UFC champion Brock Lesnar is actually suffering from mononucleosis, a viral
disease that causes fatigue. It had been rumored that Lesnar would fight Carwin in January, but those plans are now off.

Shane Carwin has commented on the situation on his website:

Guys, my manager Jason Genet just told me that UFC 108 is not happening. Brock has Mono and what the UFC has told me is that I have earned the title shot but I have to wait for the title holder.”

Man, mono really sucks.

Was really looking forward to this fight too.

Just this pic alone had me psyched up for it.

Those stats are just incredible. Especially Brock's after I got a little bit of context on them from another board.

43 reps at that weight is just inhuman, add onto that a 35 inch vertical leap, and the fact that he runs the 40 in 4.6 seconds.

Now to put that into proper context, according to what I read, Kobe Bryant's vert is about 38 inches, and he runs the 40 in 4.2.

I had not yet fully realized what a true freak of nature this man is until I saw that.

To me, to be a conservative means to conserve the good parts of America and to conserve our Constitution.
Lesnar is a BEAST! Truly, some amazing stats there.

When this fight does happen, it's going to be a great one. Probably the next UFC fight I get, disappointed it got pushed back initially, although certainly glad that Lesnar gets enough time to properly train and fight without being sick. Mono is definitely a bitch. Friend in my class during our junior year got yet, missed half the year.

Honestly, I wish I could find the quote, but the best saying I've ever heard about Lesnar was :

"If God were to make an army of super soldiers, they would all be Brock Lesnar"

Man, I'm a little disappointed about Kobe's vertical leap to be honest. LeBron's is 44" while Michael Jordan's is 48" (apparently the highest in the game.) Was kind of expecting Kobe Bryant to reach at least 40" but I guess he still beats out that measly 28" average that regular NBA players have by almost a foot.

Lesnar's stats are just way unfair. How are you that strong, big, quick, agile, muscular, technically solid, and ferocious all at the same time? He better have an I.Q. of 50 or I'm going to be really pissed.

I was pumped up for 106 for the Lesnar fight, still might get it. At first wasn't even though I'm a Forrest fan because I just don't know if he can beat a healthy Ortiz and paying to see Forrest lose again isn't something I wanted to do. Than they added Anthony Johnson vs Josh Koscheck to the main card though and I'm definitely curious to see if "Rumble" has the potential to make it the next level.

Sucks that Lesnar won't make 108 either, that event fell to shit fast.

No Silva/Belfort, No Rua/Machida II, No Lesnar/Carwin, and it seems like another big fight fell through that I'm forgetting. I know Fitch/Alves fell through but that was for 107.

Honestly, having known forrest I am still a fan, but he's making it hard for me. Brock really is the only fighter I give a crap about anymore, maybe Couture. There are just too many fighters now to give a crap about any of them. It was better when there were like only 5-10 in the divisions.

If I were giving Brock an IQ test I'm not so sure I'd have the courage to tell him that he was anything short of an absolute genius to be honest.

- Brock Lesnar's health is said to be in very bad shape and it will be a while before he can fight again. Lesnar went to Canada last week to try and rest after being ill for some time. He collapsed while in Canada and was rushed to the hospital. He is suffering from mono and another illness that he has requested confidentiality with UFC as to what it is.

Dana White said on Saturday that he promised Lesnar he would keep the disease private and said he doesn't have cancer or AIDS. The disease he has is said to be extremely serious and there are at least two things wrong and there may be more.

Dana is going to Minnesota to try and get Lesnar into the Mayo Clinic
or another medical facility for treatment.

Dude what the hell is going on?

^^ That's Stinger's dedicated blog thread for this.

In any event, it sounds pretty scary and ominous to me especially when they're being vague about this "other illness" and when I see "Mayo Clinic" come into the picture.

Thoughts and prayers. It sounds really bad to me.

Here is the official word.

Brock Lesnar has Diverticulitis. It is small pouches in the intestines that can cause bleeding, sharp pain, intestinal and rectal bleeding, nausea, fever, and vomiting.

Here is a full discription.

It sucks but it's not the end of the world. He'll get it cleaned up, have a bit of a lifestyle change at least in terms of diet and live a mostly normal life after that. There's no reason he should be out of a career entirely for this if it's handled right.
