However, I think if you were to take away most of the ppvs, then the other ones would generate way more buys probably evening out that number in the end. Plus they dont have to pay to rent the venue, fly the superstars there, deal with the fire marshall, advertise for the thing. And the superstars would be slightly less tired.

That's the argument I used over at LOP over the same topic.

I'd certainly like to think so....but that's a $64 million gamble that we'd be right.

Frankly, we might not be right.

A Bundy never wins, but a Bundy never quits.
Bottomline, if it wasn't making money, Vince would do it.

Jim Ross made a comment on his blog recently that pretty summed up the reason why they do so many PPVs...MONEY...

I decided to do some basic math.

I figured that if the WWE did five PPV/year...four of the five would average 500,000 buys. Mania would draw close to a million.

Then, I figured the same 500K average for the big 3, along with the million that Mania draws. When you add in 8 other PPVs, averaging right around 200,000 buys...and consider that PPVs cost $40...that's an extra $64 million they are getting from the PPV department.

So, there's 64 million reasons why our "too many PPVs waters down the product" argument doesn't hold water
Sure, I understand all this.
