TMZ.com broke the story on Monday morning that former WWE superstar Dave Batista is becoming a professional Mixed Martial Arts fighter.

The 6'5", 290 pound Batista was in Hollywood over weekend and told TMZ that he's headed to the Strikeforce MMA promotion, home of another former WWE superstar, Bobby Lashley.

Batista even told the TMZ camera guy that he already has his first fight lined up, but can't comment on it just yet.

There have been rumors for months that the 41 year old Batista would be following in the footsteps of Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley. Now, its official.

I'm sorry, but I don't think he has much of a chance. Even a freak like Lesnar had to bust his ass and struggle.

Batista is old, injury prone...lol, I just can't begin to see this succeed. I wish him the best and I hope he proves me wrong but I really can't see it.

To me, to be a conservative means to conserve the good parts of America and to conserve our Constitution.
Exactly Q, too old and too injury prone.

Unfortunately, he doesn't want anything to do with fighting Fedor. That sucks. I would love to see Fedor practically murder him.

Indeed. Even I'd probably have to pony up the cash to see that debacle go down.

- Strikeforce officials are telling MMA website MMAjunkie.com that former WWE Superstar Batista has not signed with the company and there is no deal on the table for him to fight for them.

Strikeforce spokesman Mike Afromowitz told the website that Batista "definitely has not signed" with them. MMAJunkie's sources say that Batista and Strikeforce have had informal talks and the company may eventually offer him a contract.

Or not.

So what's what here?

Hey man your clock won't flush!!!
Batista hoping to get exposure good or bad. He can't act, too old to fight, to beaten up to wrestle.

I don't doubt that Strikeforce is working with him, I just think he opened his mouth too soon before things were finalized.

Regardless, he'll get demolished by anyone with even a hint of ability. Not knocking Batista as an athlete, just think it's too late in life to make a go at a career like this with no prior training. I'm sure he'll get thrown a cupcake at first though, so maybe he'll have a chance.

Batista working his douchebag Kanye West heel role and then getting THE SHIT beat out of him in an MMA cage would be nothing short of glorious.

In a new interview with MMAFighting.com to promote his UFC 116 fight with Shane Carwin, Brock Lesnar was asked about Batista’s claims to TMZ that he would be fighting for Strikeforce. Lesnar responded:

“Get in line, everybody and their dog wants to get into fighting,” he said. “Next question. We’re talking about a heavyweight championship fight, not some wannabe.”

TMZ has a new article up with comments from Booker T regarding Batista’s possible move into MMA. Booker, who fought Batista backstage a few years back, says that Batista wouldn’t last 5 minutes in the ring with a guy like Bobby Lashley. Booker told TMZ that he doesn’t think Batista can “match up” with some of the Strikeforce fighters and that he will get crushed if he tries MMA.
