I love these things, and it's been far too long since WWE introduced a new superstar through a series of vignettes like this.

Of course I don't know why the feel the need to take his mask off and make him a heel, but whatever I guess. Alberto Del Rio/Dos Caras Jr., whatever you want to call him, is very good in the ring and I'm looking forward to his debut.

Seems like a no brainier to have him go after Rey Mysterio, but obviously Mysterio will need to drop the title for that.

Hate it...this is nothing but a re-hash of Salvatore' Sincere, I hated the Carlito character, I hated the Kofi character. Give me a real guy not this crap.

I like him but ditto on your comments here. He's great in the ring but this is all rehash and a tired one to boot. Absolutely NOTHING new or original here whatsoever.

Yet another sign of just how stale WWE is.

What's wrong with just giving him a catchy name that fits his character, then have him come out and be someone's hired gun, off the top of my head Ted DiBiase...

Because WWE still can't past these stupid gimmicks and especially when it comes to blacks and hispanics. It's just that simple.

His gimmick is great, and he had a very good match on Smackdown against Mysterio (winning by submission no less).

This guy is going to be a big star.

He's good at getting heat on himself with his promos. I saw him at a house show 2 months ago and despite no one knowing who he was upon his entrance, he exited to a chorus of strong boos. I like the guy...

Every now and then WWE gets the notion to bring in a foreign guy out of nowhere and push him to the moon. Sometimes it works out great, such as with Sheamus, sometimes it's a complete flop, like with Koslov and a small minion of others. Good to see they're still trying with the new guys, but I don't have enough faith in them, given past history, that they won't give up on this guy or pull the rug out from under him somehow before or right as he starts getting over. But apparently they like him now so he should be alright, until he makes the wrong enemy backstage or creative gets bored with him.

I think he's got a pretty good future. I think the reason they made him ditch the entire Dos Caras character was so people wouldn't be able to track him back to his somewhat abysmal MMA career (apparently he got knocked the 'F out by a guy in 46 sec.)

From what I see, he's pretty good in the ring with an extremely fluid finishing maneuver which he could probably lock on anyone of any size. I'm willing to give this guy a chance. Realistically, the main event is pretty thin and damn near the entire SmackDown! roster is too inconsistently booked to step into it. It just never hurts to have a new face in the mix. Do I think he's gonna insert himself into the Kane/Taker debacle pretty soon? Of course not, he has to establish himself. He seems to have a great amount of strengths though (size, in ring ability, heat, some kind of backstage backing, a good amount of charisma, etc.) which is why everyone's pegging him for the next Sheamus push. Does he have the passion and drive of someone like Sheamus though? We'll have to wait and see but ultimately I think that's gonna be the deciding factor since he has all of the aforementioned tools above.

Good points Jimmay.

I have to say from the little bit I've seen so far, I really dig the unique style he brings with him wrestling wise... Really sets him apart from a lot of the roster in that respect since he seems to be doing more "lucha based", I guess, stuff than WWE style, which hopefully they will not change, or if they do, not so as to totally neuter him.

In his defense in regards to MMA, he was a luchadore stepping into a ring to take on CroCop... so his chances weren't very good there to begin with.

I know this is (or was) very common in Japan, for them to take wrestlers and make them do some shoot fighting/MMA to build up their legitimacy in that particular culture, but I didn't know that any lucha guys followed suit, although, not knowing anything of the situation, can't say for sure the whys or whats of his past decisions.

Still though, it was a good while back, and not something that most people would know unless they just searched for it.

And yeah... Cro Copp, while washed up will flat murder anyone who is not at least a somewhat upper level MMA guy.... and Prime Cro Copp destroys an even greater percentage of guys than that.
