Mounting Tensions RAW 09/01 Preview
WWE.com
Though SummerSlam was just weeks ago, there is only one thing on the mind of WWE Superstars: Unforgiven. With a Championship Scramble set to feature five of Raw’s most powerful and intense competitors, tensions are running high.

That heat just might explode on Raw as the five Superstars meet early in a Raw Battle Royal. World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, new Scramble Match addition Rey Mysterio, JBL, Kane and Batista will all be in the ring, searching for a way to grab an early advantage heading into Sunday’s pay-per-view. Who will be the man left smiling after Raw and bringing momentum to the World Heavyweight Championship Scramble Match at Unforgiven?

Another pre-Unforgiven meeting takes place as well, as Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho ink the contract for their Unsanctioned Match. This signing will be the first time these Superstars have been in the ring with each other since Y2J left HBK’s wife in a world of pain. Will The Showstopper have a few words for his Unforgiven opponent just days before their contest?

Also on Raw, Randy Orton plans to make a special appearance to address the title holders on Raw. Orton is a former three-time World Champion, himself. What message will he deliver to the current champions?

In addition to having four opponents at Unforgiven and a Raw Battle Royal, Rey Mysterio may have more to battle. After General Manager Mike Adamle announced that John Cena’s recently sustained herniated disk in his neck would prevent him from competing in the World Heavyweight Championship Scramble, he replaced Cena with Mysterio. But Mysterio has been missing from Raw for months, due to a brutal attack by Kane, if the Big Red Monster is to be believed. Will Mysterio be in good enough physical condition to compete at Unforgiven? And what type of mental state will the Ultimate Underdog be in?

Last Monday night, Raw’s resident golden couple, Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella and Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix, had a brief lovers’ spat, due to Santino distracting Beth during a match against Kelly Kelly and The Glamazon’s subsequent loss. While “Glamarella” appears to have reconciled, could this signal a rocky period for Santino and Beth?

For the answers to these questions and more, make sure to tune into Monday Night Raw at 9/8 CT, back on its regular channel, only on USA Network.

Hmmm...Orton must be getting ready to come back. Probably the night after Unforgiven if I had to guess. That's good news.

RAW has been decent tonight, nothing special but nothing horrible either. I enjoyed the opening segment, everything else so far has been meh. I did like all the segments involving Orton, DiBiase and Rhodes though. Man, if they go the stable direction like I believe they will when Orton gets back, that's going to be a helluva young group.

Jericho/Michaels has been the best thing about RAW for a couple of months now, sucks about HBK's injury.

I sure don't although JBL in his current form would be far worse.

I see a Punk-Orton feud happening after Unforgiven. It's either going to be that or Punk-Jericho if HBK gets the bad news and is out for several months.

I bet Punk retains the title somehow. It's a new, fresh feud especially if they're doing what I've been hoping for and having Orton become the leader of a stable that includes at least Dibiase and Rhodes. Orton is going to be pushed back into the title scene very quickly and I hope that means JBL gets dropped right out of it.

I think Kane would be a great champion, because he would work hard, and its plausible that he would lose to the little guys. But Reys going to take him out of comission, and then its a Kane Rey angle.

I certainly can't argue against this: Kane has earned a legit title shot and run of some sort.

- From what happened on RAW last night, it would seem the company are building for a progam between Randy Orton and CM Punk for when 'The Legend Killer' returns to action.

In terms of Orton's return, it could be as early as Cyber Sunday but more than likely at Survivor Series. Either way, it's expected he will be wrestling again between late October and early November.

He can't come back fast enough.

Hey man your clock won't flush!!!
I see Batista doing 1 of 2 things.

He will feud with JBL after the match. Or, and my favorite. Jericho destroys HBK (he needs 6 months off to heel anyway) and Batista finally has enough. Says something along the lines of "I don't like HBK as a person, but I respect him as a wrestler. And what you've done to him is disgraceful." Jericho does his thing, and the two feud.

It is a shame Randy can not get back fast enough because I miss him and Raw needs him now that Cena is gone and it looks like HBK might be going to.
