Best thing that could happen to Mir now would be losing to Shane Carwin.

And it has happened, Mir (who I hate) didn't just lose, he got destroyed. Carwin is scary, and I want Brock to win, but it makes me question if my boy can. Carwin has yet to see the second round because of his strength and wrestling ability. Here is hoping Brock can prepare.

Carwin vs. Lesnar is a bona-fide monster movie in the making.

Someone better alert Tokyo.

Can't wait. Carwin is a freak, but I don't see Brock losing this fight. Then again I figured even if Mir lost he wouldn't get destroyed so who knows. Carwin is making a living out of proving people wrong.

Looks like UFC's general luck is finally turning around after that horrible last half of 09.... we got Lesnar/Carwin to look forward to, and already we've seen two past greats in Mir/Nog get absolutely demolished by the up and coming guys such as Velásquez and the aforementioned Carwin.

If I'm booking the HW division right now in UFC... Obviously Cain is the number one contender right now and gets first crack at the winner of Brock/Carwin (unless heaven's gates open up and Fedor by some miracle comes aboard..) then I book Nog vs Mir in a rematch the winner of which would become the number 2 contender.

Wow, definitely did not see Edgar taking the belt from Penn. Didn't see the ppv but did hear Silva made a mockery of Maia. sucks since UFC was trying to win over a new market but at the same time it made no sense that Maia got shoved into that bout, wish they had just postponed the Belfort fight rather then get Maia who was coming off being destroyed by Marquardt who then complicated matters by getting destroyed by a guy Maia had beaten.

Anyway, Belfort/Silva was the money fight and it's very obvious that Silva only brings his "A" game now when he feels challenged by his opponent, so they need to stop just feeding Anderson these guys who he completely outclasses.

Funny thing though, in the pre-show Silva talked about wanting to win in several weight classes, even heavyweight. Now I love Anderson and respect the hell out of his talent, but Carwin, Velasquez, Dos Santos, Lesnar would all have their way with him IMO.

Agreed... but in his weight class, there's really not much left for him. Aside from a few dream matches with guys in other divisions, UFC's in a position where its going to be hard to book Silva in matches with guys he'll, or the fans will take seriously.. and that's not because of a weak division, but just because of what an amazing ass kicker this man is.

Didn't see the show, but from what I heard Silva dominated as you'd expect, but intentionally went to embarrass Maia instead of just taking him out like he did Forest... and then gassed and spent the last two rounds just backing away... sounds like it was quite the snoozer to be honest.

Silva could probably beat up cans in the HW division, but like Monkey said, you put him in there against Brock, Cain, Shane, Mir, etc... and he's chopped liver.

Although, again, judging solely from what I've read and heard the fight everyone is talking about now is Silva vs. GSP, which frankly would probably just about the biggest money fight UFC could make at this point... Although with that fight, unless you had it be an unofficial deal for neither's guys title at a catch weight (which even then at around say, 180 I'd still give Silva the big odds on advantage, although I don't see Silva working well at anything below 175 for him personally), whoever was forced to drastically cut or add weight, would most likely be the one to find themselves at a big dis-advantage come fight time... but still just from a marquee POV, I want to see that fight happen.

Hughes vs. Henzo sounds like the MMA equivalent of Hogan vs. Flair, in a guy whose way past his prime but can still go in limited flashes in Hughes/Flair going against who a guy who is just completely useless.

Also did not expect to read about Penn losing. Guess that means one more of MMA's unbeatable champs has been dethroned... as last year we saw Shogun get robbed by the judges in that fight against the then unconquerable Machida... So all that's left now is Silva, GSP, and Brock... although out of all of those Brock has the most interesting match ups in that I wouldn't call him a lock to demolish virtually everyone in his division at this point... (even though its far from impossible that he would...)

Oh, and I guess I should put Fedor in that list as well, but he's easy to overlook since his handlers have made it so that he won't be able to face top competition, unless he can somehow break away from them and get into UFC.... which I think will probably happen one day, although, it might sadly be when he is past his prime and thus his run might leave people with a less than ideal impression of him at the end.,

Well looks like Silva's actions may have some serious fallout as Dana White is saying he won't give Silva a GSP fight because he doesn't think Silva deserves to fight GSP. Also stated that Anderson Silva may become the first champion to defend his title on the preliminary card. Needless to say Dana White is pretty livid, especially in front of the new UFC investors of all things.

To me, to be a conservative means to conserve the good parts of America and to conserve our Constitution.
Look up Silva's fight with Demian Maia.

It went five rounds, mostly just Silva dancing around and taunting instead of ending a fight he easily had won.

Basically, he was acting like an asshole throughout the whole fight. Pissed a lot of fans off, and a lot fighters and commentators.

Gotta take most of this with a grain of salt.

I don't doubt White is livid, or that Silva PO'd a lot of people with his crap showing here, however, Dana White would be making one of the most foolish decisions of his promoting career if that threat to banish Silva to the prelims was anything but him just blowing off some steam.

Silva's still a big name in MMA.... and all it takes is one more good showing from him and everyone will have already forgotten about this debacle.... And looking at it from the prowrestling angle, Silva is now (maybe next to Brock) the top heel in MMA, and if Dana can find a guy, such as GSP ( a fight that would easily do over a million buys on PPV), or even someone not on that level of stardom already, that can beat him, he'll be the biggest babyface in all of UFC....

Silva definitely stepped in a big pile of crap with that performance last weekend, and I think some kind of tangible consequences should be in order, but I wouldn't go so far as to give him the Kalib Starnes treatment... at least not while there's still money to be made, lest you risk losing a marquee talent to Strikeforce... who could then make a viable claim to having both the number one and two pound for pound fighters in the world...

Just watched the fight, WHAT A PIECE OF SHIT! People talk trash about Brock and his post fight antics, but that was AFTER he whooped his opponents ass, this asshole didn't do anything but sits there like a 3rd world Ali and doesn't do shit. I hope GSP kills him in the ring.

I'd let Silva fight him just so GSP can break him in public. I'd make the fight free, I'd send Silva to the Lion's den in front of the biggest crowd ever.

Anyone catch the CBS Strikeforce show last night?

Listening to a recap of it now and was SHOCKED to hear that Jake Shields beat Dan Henderson.... the only thing I could figure would be that Henderson came in out of shape, or he was hit by lightning...

Oh, and the other noteworthy thing on the show. A humungous pro-wrestling esqe post fight brawl involving who else? Mayhem Miller...

Way to represent Mixed Martial Arts as a legitimate sport on network television, ya jackasses.

Nick Diaz is a POS anyway. He's never going to be anything of worth in that world.
